Started in 2012, Soul Sanchi is a design studio that works with earth friendly materials. Our focus is to reintroduce many forgotten crafts and natural products. This requires technology intervention. We believe that small batch production efficiently using local raw materials, manipulated without causing harm to the environment would be the key to the future products. Soul Sanchi’s humble beginnings started as a one-person studio founded by Nanditha Nair.
The passion for the artistry of hand-made bags, crafted from natural fibers such as handwoven cotton, screwpine, and wood, laid the foundation for our creative journey. Sanchi or സഞ്ചി means Bag in Malayalam. Soul Sanchi comes from a play of the words Thol Sanchi or തോള് സഞ്ചി which means shoulder bag. Over the years we evolved into a design studio by collaborating with artists and organizations across India.
